Artist's Statement: Linda Lee Foster-Paul

As I become more aware of my impact on our global home, windows are opening to help me more clearly see where I’ve been and where I want to go. This has given me the strength to create artwork from my journey and my experiences.
I am drawn to the outdoors and nature. While sailing, ski instructing and gardening in the Pacific
Northwest for more than 30 years, I nurtured a close relationship with nature. Taking photographs and Plein-air painting on my sailboat, atop local mountains and in my backyard have helped me discover what Nature truly means to me. I feel whole when I spend part of the day outdoors. This is my love.
My latest adventure has been the start of a new life in Florida, with new landscapes and different flora and fauna. I have also rediscovered my love for golf and riding my bike, doing both on a regular basis. I expect each of these changes in my life to influence my future work.
One of my new series, “Threads of History,” where I am using recycled/reused items, is U.S. history viewed through my grandmother’s and mother’s generations. As I become more aware of my family history, I realize how much it has influenced my life. Now, as I continue series studies and paintings through my Plein-air painting in Florida, as well as while traveling, my own life is opening windows to help me see and create work from these experiences.
My giclée limited edition prints are products of my Plein-air and studio paintings and provide me a means to share my gift with others. They have all been in many juried shows where they have received numerous awards. The three (3) newest limited-edition prints of my original paintings are “Vintage Ruby II”, “Tropical Breeze II” and “Beachcombers @ Casperson Beach II”.
Several of my original paintings have been in juried shows at international (Canada, Ireland, Kuwait and Mexico) and national (AK, AZ, CA, DC, FL, GA, HI, ID, MO, MT, NM, NV, OR, PA, UT and WA) art exhibitions and have received numerous awards. Two of which I am particularly proud are “Flag Day @Coupeville II” and “Wasatch Homestead III”, which were awarded National First Place in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Juried Show in Washington D.C. in 2015 and 2018, respectively.
I have also been a featured artist at numerous web sites as well as in one-woman shows, art galleries and museums throughout the United States and around the world. My paintings are included in private, corporate and public collections and in a published book, “Images of America, Snoqualmie Pass”, by John and Chery Kinnick (“Alpental Chalet I” is on page 122 and “Sahalie Club Ski Hill II” is on page 123).
The Northwest Watercolor Society, Women Painters of Washington, Women Artists of the West, Florida SunCoast Watercolor Society and Women Contemporary Artists have each recognized my body of work and included me as a signature member.
